Sony Pictures Launches Core App on PS5 and PS4; PS Plus Premium Members Receive 100 Free Movies
Sony has announced that it will rename its Bravia Core app to Sony Pictures Core, and it will also be coming to the PS5 and PS4 consoles. This new service allows PS5 and PS4 owners to rent over 2,000 movies directly to their console.
The list of movies coming to the service includes Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train and Ghostbusters: Afterlife and more.
Additionally, Sony has also revealed that PS Plus Premium or Deluxe subscribers will receive 100 movies as part of their subscriptions at no additional cost. These titles will be available “via the Sony Pictures Core app for on-demand streaming from the Sony Pictures library as part of your membership,” Sony revealed. And this list is ad-free and updated regularly. Sony also added that more benefits are coming to PS Plus subscribers in the future, such as a selection of anime from Crunchyroll.
The Sony Pictures Core app is available for download in 23 markets worldwide, and users can find the new app in the media section of PS5 or the PS Store on PS4.
As for availability in India, we checked our PS5 units in India but we don’t see the app. Also, when looking for support information, India is not listed as a supported country on the Sony Pictures Core support page so far.
This move comes especially after PlayStation raised the prices of the PS Plus subscription tiers: Extra, Essential, Deluxe/Premum – in several territories, including the US, and this could be one of Sony’s ways of justifying the price increase going forward.
